Snuggled in the foothills of the Smokies, Susan is surrounded by her inspiration. In addition to her studio, Susan and her husband, Jouard, own the custom framing shop The Country Framer.
Susan describes her work: "Watercolors and oils each have their own rhythm and their own tempo in creation, and each are totally beautiful. Paintings are not pictures, but the expression and excitement of a passing moment. Watercolors, with beautiful glazes and its own freedom of expression, celebrate a passing moment. Oils simply fill the richness of our own hearts and make us pause and feel."
Susan has been exhibiting her work through art fairs, festivals, libraries, universities, government buildings and galleries since 1982. She also teaches watercolor and handmade paper through various institutions and privately as well.
Susan is a member of the Jackson County Visual Arts Council, the North Carolina Watercolor Society and the Dogwood Crafters. Susan is also a registered artist with Handmade in America.
