Lisa is a Buckeye native (Cincinnati, Ohio) who transplanted to Rock Hill, SC just a few years ago. She comes from a family of craftsmen/women that include graphic designers, painters, woodworkers, fabric artists and several other artisan talents. She attributes both her and her family’s inherited talents to her grandmother who created apple dolls by hand carving faces from an apple and stitching the clothing by hand as well. Her dolls were displayed in many festivals and even on local television.
Lisa got hooked on the clothesline wrapped pieces about 4 years ago and she hasn't stopped since. It’s addictive, therapeutic, and just plain challenging! She prefers to think outside of the box to come up with pieces that are unique, yet practical. Each piece is constructed by taking clothesline and hand wrapping it in ¾ inch strips of fabric. It is then sewn together with a zig-zag stitch on a sewing machine. It can take several hours and up to several days to construct the pieces. The pieces can be spot cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap as well.
Lisa wants to continue to challenge herself by incorporating different mediums such as beads, shells, yarn, or metals into her pieces. She encourages special order items to accommodate an individual’s décor and color schemes.
